The saying goes, “Give, and you will receive.” In my lifetime of being in business, I have worked hard to achieve what I have today. Nothing was handed to me — I got here through pure hard work, dedication, and perseverance. In the same breath, I believe deeply in giving back. And why not give to those who are less fortunate?
Children are especially close to my heart. I truly believe that it is never a child’s fault to be born into a financially difficult situation. When children are as young as the ones I’ve been helping, you can see the sadness in their hearts through their eyes. If I can make them happy for even just one hour, then it is worth everything to me.
In April this year, we visited a pre-primary school in Danville, Pretoria — the same community and children I have been supporting for more than a year now. We hosted an Easter egg handout and made it extra special by arranging for a friend of mine to dress up as the Easter Bunny. We provided the children with lunch, something to drink, and prepared 30 Easter egg hampers, which were handed out to each child.
The excitement on their faces and the pure joy they experienced in that one hour made every cent spent completely worth it.

I also took the opportunity to speak with the Principal of the school to better understand their most urgent needs in order for the school to function more effectively. I have since received a detailed list of necessities, and throughout the course of this year, I will be sponsoring the required items and building materials the school needs.
Another goal I have set for this year is to prepare an additional 80 or so food and toiletries parcels for the Danville home, which we plan to distribute just before Christmas, as we did last year.
Giving is in my nature, and wherever I am able to help, I am more than willing to do so.
